10 October 2017:Over RM60,000 was raised by the event for children’s home A long-standing bbpark event, the Latin American Festival is an annual affair that sees the celebration of the colourful cultures found south of the North American border. It also brings together the people of nine Latin American and Caribbean nations – Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Columbia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela – who are in Malaysia for a once-a-year meetup to remember. It’s essentially a proper fiesta awash with music, dance, costumes, merchandise and of course, food and drink! Beyond this, the festival also gives further cause for celebration as it garners a sizeable amount for the needy. The 9th Latin American Festival, held on 21 May this year, managed to secure an impressive RM60,718.50 for the elected beneficiary, Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Kurang Upaya Kirtarsh. To pass this collection of funds to the not-for-profit home, a Cheque Presentation Ceremony was conducted at the Sky Room of Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It was attended by the Ambassadors of the nine countries; representatives of the Latin Ladies Association of Malaysia; Steven Chong, Area Director of Low Yat City; Patrick Honan, Executive Area General Manager of Plaza Low Yat; Albert Khoo, General Manager of Plaza Low Yat and bbpark; Simon Leong, Senior Area General Manager of Federal Hotels International; Ooi Lee Ping, Director of Group Marketing, Sales & Business Development & Operations of Federal Hotels International; Louis Sebastian, General Manager of The Federal Hotel and Capitol Hotel, Bukit Bintang; YBhg Datuk Hj Mhd. Amin Nordin bin Abdul Aziz, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur; as well as other guests. Everyone present were given an insight of and review of the 9th Latin American Festival with a photography tour that recapped the excitement of the event. The event then concluded after the cheque presentation took place.
