Celebrating a decade-long friendship between Malaysia and the nations of the Latin America and the Caribbean, the Latin American Festival is set to happen at Plaza Low Yat and bbpark in Bukit Bintang on 23 September 2018.
Marking its 10th anniversary, the festival offers a great experience for everyone to get familiar with various arts and craft, food, music performances and cultural showcases of the participating countries.
“10 Years Celebrating Friendship and Culture with Malaysia is a fitting theme for this year’s Latin American Festival, as we rejoice the rich cultures of all Malaysia, Latin America and the Caribbean, filled with colorful diversity, through food, arts, music, culture and heritage,” said Plaza Low Yat Executive Area General Manager Michael Lee.

The Latin American Festival is a joint-celebration, organised by the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC), in collaboration with Plaza Low Yat, Federal Hotels International, Latin Women’s Association of Malaysia, and in support of the City Hall of Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) to reinforce the bond between Malaysian, Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The participating Latin American and Caribbean embassies for the Latin American Festival this year are Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.
Each embassy will be offering a taste of their culture in terms of gastronomy, music and dance, as well as handmade crafts that will take the public on a culturally-infused journey of what the Festival is all about.
Other activities include face-painting, photo booths, tourism information to the Latin American and Caribbean countries, and a lucky draw of attractive prizes that include the Grand Prize of a round trip to Columbia for two, with courtesy of Turkish Airlines.
Other prizes given away during the event are sponsored by Cosmos Online Sdn Bhd, Hoco Malaysia, House of Leather Chain Store Sdn Bhd, ICT Utopia Sdn Bhd, Kexwoode Sdn Bhd and others.
Visitors to the 10th Latin American Festival will also be giving back to society while having fun, as all proceeds during the festival will be donated to the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory which offers life-long free support to children with cerebral palsy through various services.
