Exhilarating circus acts and actionpacked
stunts, whimsical comedy
and trippy surrealism are all rolled
into one psychedelic 80-minute
show, set to win you over at the Kuala Lumpur
Convention Centre this coming 28 May to 1
June. Presented by the Malaysian Ministry
of Tourism and produced by DreamCast
Entertainment, this show is none other than
Cirque Balagan Extravaganza, which will be
making its debut performance in Asia!

Cirque Balagan (Russian for marketplace
circus) isn’t your average round-ring circus. It
fuses a classical Commedia dell’Arte (a form
of Italian improvisational theatre) with the
centuries-old legacy of the European circus
and modern cirque-style entertainment. Sure,
the Balagan troupe is made up of the finest
performers, tumblers, clowns, strongmen
and fliers, but add to these the dazzling
costumes and masks, remarkable props, wildly
unpredictable special effects, unique music
and intricate choreography, and the show is
elevated to a theatrical extravaganza. The
setting is in elaborate Broadway style, and the
basic plot and dialogue are satirical, poking fun
at current events, love and scandals.
Balagan’s creator, Misha Matorin, along with
his father choreographed the famous aerial cube
act which he performed in the world-renowned
Cirque du Soleil. “Balagan is as aesthetic as
it is artistic, with outlandish characters, fanciful
creatures, unusual music and skilled performers
offering feats of beauty,” says Misha. “Every time
audiences see a show, they see something new,”
he adds. “People are captivated because they
always want something more to happen, and we
give it to them. It will be no less outstanding
when Balagan is staged in Malaysia. We are
looking forward to performing for the very first
time for our Malaysian audience.”
Indeed, they will not be disappointed by
the Malaysian audience, as we are always drawn
to unique and exciting shows like Balagan,
which promises an exhilarating journey the
entire family can experience together.
