After rocking their way into the hearts of fans all over the world with their anthemic, euphoric tunes and creative music videos, Australian indie rock band The Temper Trap are flying back in Malaysia this month to do it all over again!
The talented quartet (consisting of the honeyed-voiced Dougy Mandagi on lead vocals, Jonathan Aherne on bass, Toby Dundas on drums and Joseph Greer on keyboards and guitar), broke onto the music scene in 2009 with their chart-topping single ‘Sweet Disposition’, which also appeared on the soundtrack of the hit movie 500 Days of Summer. A self-titled album was released two years later, achieving platinum status and cementing their place as one of the industry’s most promising acts.
Now, following a much deserved four year break, the group have made their spectacular comeback last year with the release of their third and latest album Thick as Thieves, which won many music critics’ praise for its stripped-back, electronic sound. The album also garnered a prestigious ARIA nomination for Best Adult Alternative Album.
With more than a million records sold, the group are no strangers to headlining festivals like Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Coachella, and supporting sold-out concerts for Coldplay and The Rolling Stones, but this time around, local fans will be able to get a more intimate look at the multi-platinum rock stars when they play a special set over at artsy venue The Bee at Publika on 9 March.
Hits like the drum-infused ‘Thick as Thieves,’ ‘Burn’ and ‘Fall Together’ are just some of the songs Temper Trap devotees can look forward to, as well as the band’s older hits like the soaring ‘Science of Fear,’ and the rhythmic ‘Drum Song’. If you missed them the first time around at 2013’s Future Music Festival, here’s your chance to catch them again at their solo show.
