Little ones pick out their new festive outfits, enjoy a sumptuous meal and take home goodies from the sprawling lifestyle hub.
The festive spirit swept over NU Sentral Shopping Centre recently as the mall treated a group of 40 children from Yayasan Chow Kit with new Raya clothing, a meal and plenty of other keepsakes for them to take home.
The shopping trip began at NU Sentral anchor tenant Parkson, where the children picked out new Baju Kurung and Baju Melayu to look their best for the Raya festivities at the end of the week. The retail journey continued at fashion forward GIORDANO, where they each received Junior Tees, and then finally on to Smiggle where they picked out colourful and scented stationary, bags, and lunchboxes.
Having racked up a considerable hunger from the shopping trip, the children were invited to buka puasa at Melur & Thyme, together with Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad and NU Sentral’s staff. There, the children also entertained guests with a traditional dance performance while they ate.
To end the night and in the true spirit of giving, the children were given packets of duit raya and goodie bags by Group Managing Director and CEO of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad Datuk Kamalul Arifin Othman. The bags contained an array of special items including those sponsored by Ice-Watch, F&N, MBG Fruit Shop, Hoagies On-the-Go, and The Manhattan FISH MARKET.
“NU Sentral is committed towards reaching out to the underserved society through philanthropic and social out-reach activities in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility’s objective. Our hope is that today, burdens of these kids were lessened and joy are added to their day. May the upcoming Syawal be blissful for them,” said Datuk Kamalul in his speech during the buka puasa event.
