This special two-day event is being held at Kg. Nunuk Ragang, Ranau to mark the installation of the Kadazandusun’s Huguan Siou (Paramount Leader) and to commemorate the original settlement of the Kadazandusun community. Visitors can spend hours scouring for bargain finds on a vast range of great must-have products at the tamu (open air market) or enjoy events such as the traditional sports and cultural performances. The term Moginakan is taken from the world moginum (drinking) and makan (eating) so make sure to try as much of the local fare on offer, as feasting lies at the very heart of this vibrant festival! Other elements of this festival include socio-spiritual acts of reflection and purification, sharing, thanksgiving, renewal, communion, peace and harmony, as well as commemoration of redemption, many of which are central to the famously harmonious existence that visitors experience while spending time on the Eastern state.
