Watch giant celebrates Malaysia’s diamond jubilee with a stunning timepiece
Last week Malaysia celebrated 60 years of independence and to mark the occasion luxury Swiss watchmaker Hublot and The Hour Glass launched its Limited Edition Hublot Big Bang Merdeka Timepiece.
Only 60 pieces of the iconic watch have been made and these are only available in Malaysia. Instantly visible is the eye-catching number ‘60’ in gold, an homage to Malaysia’s diamond jubilee, while a striking blue alligator strap adorned with gold stitches holds the watch on your wrist.
The timepiece also features a date display between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions and a scratch resistant sapphire case.
Special guest of honour Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim, a prominent historian and highly regarded national academic, was on hand to officiate the launch along with Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, The Hour Glass GM SK Teh and Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 Samantha Katie James.
“Hublot is pleased to honour this historical milestone tonight in Kuala Lumpur together with our long-time partner, The Hour Glass. We are happy to share with our Malaysian fans this special-edition timepiece dedicated to paying homage to their homeland. It was such a privilege for us to have Malaysian historian, Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim as the guest of honor tonight to mark the occasion”, said Guadalupe at the launch.
The event also featured a performance by songstress Ushera Yusof, who captured the essence of the evening with her beautiful voice while a nostalgic sharing session with Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim brought guests back through time to the day where “Merdeka” was chanted proudly after the nation gained its independence on 31 August 1957.
The Hublot Big Bang “Merdeka” timepiece is available at Hublot Boutique Suria KLCC and The Hour Glass boutiques nationwide!
