Launch Of Miss SHOPhia @ BBKLCC Fiesta

It’s a shopping extravaganza in the heart of Kuala Lumpur!

The inaugural Miss SHOPhia @ BBKLCC Fiesta & Tourism Malaysia Dekat Je Carnival has been launched at Lot 10, Bukit Bintang by Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia in an event that was also attended by Chairman of BBKLCC Tourism Association, Joseph Yeoh and representatives from the Association’s mall members of the BBKLCC precinct.

Running from 25 August to 3 September 2017, Miss SHOPhia @ BBKLCC Fiesta & Tourism Malaysia Dekat Je Carnival is supported by Tourism Malaysia through its shopping promotion arm, Secretariat Shopping Malaysia. Miss SHOPhia @ BBKLCC Fiesta is the main event organized by BBKLCC Tourism Association for 2017 and takes place in seven popular malls in BBKLCC precinct, namely Fahrenheit 88, Lot 10, Pavilion KL, Plaza Low Yat, Starhill Gallery, Sungei Wang Plaza and Suria KLCC.

Weekly cultural dance performances will take place during the Fiesta

The shopping event is also happening concurrently with the 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival, the 60th National Day and the 29th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 2017. Enticing shoppers and tourists to the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Miss SHOPhia @ BBKLCC Fiesta offers a unique shopping experience, great bargains, rewards, special events and activities showcasing multi-cultural performances and food to encourage tourist shopping spending.

Sporting the tagline ‘Super Bargains, Fantastic Experiences’, the event aspires to position Malaysia as a value-for-money shopping destination. Miss SHOPhia, who was introduced by Tourism Malaysia, will guide shoppers and tourists to look out for and get the best out of the 10-day fiesta. Since debuting last year, Miss SHOPhia has been a constant figure in the KL shopping scene, serving as the ultimate shopping companion by keeping fashionistas and shoppers clued in to the latest trends on fashion, food, tech, gadgets as well as shopping news and happenings via her social media platforms. 

In addition to the fiesta, Tourism Malaysia Dekat Je Carnival will showcase attractive and unique domestic tourism products, such as KL Arch Gallery and Conteng Kasot, as well as four themed attractions: Sunway Lagoon, Hello Kitty, Farm in the City and Bangi Wonderland during the three-day event. 

In his speech, Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab said: “Tourism Malaysia is pleased to support this event as we believe that shopping fiestas such as this will help boost the growth of our shopping sector further.”

Joseph Yeoh meanwhile said: “Now is the time more than ever for retailers in BBKLCC precinct to organise the Miss SHOPhia @ BBKLCC Fiesta for the first time to increase tourist spending, making it highly attractive for shopping tourists to come to Kuala Lumpur whilst working hand in hand with the Ministry of Tourism in promoting local tour packages and our Malaysian eco-attractions. Our primary objective is to collaborate with Tourism Malaysia to promote the BBKLCC precinct as the premier shopping enclave in Malaysia.”

AirAsia will be a partner for Miss SHOPhia @ BBKLCC Fiesta, organising the 1 Million BIG Points “Whirlwind of Wanderings” challenge where up to 1 Million BIG Points are up for grabs with a minimum spend from RM300 in any BBKLCC participating malls. Visitors at Pavilion KL will be entertained with a weekly 1Malaysia dance performances from 26, 27 & 31 August 2017 and 2 & 3 September 2017 respectively. The exhibition will also be showcasing works by the emerging and talented young local artists Koo Yean Ni and Hasif Azizan.
