Providing better cancer treatment solutions with the cognitive computing platform
In an effort to provide doctors insights that help them deliver evidence-based cancer treatment solutions, KPJ Healthcare Berhad announced its adoption of Watson for Oncology trained by Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), a cognitive computing platform.
“We believe that introducing Watson for Oncology will increase KPJ’s capability to provide cancer patients with treatment options that are based on facts and medical evidence,” said KPJ Healthcare President and Managing Director, Dato’ Amiruddin Abdul Satar.
Developed by IBM in collaboration with MSK Cancer Centre, Watson for Oncology summarises key medical attributes of a patient, ranks the treatment options and links to MSK-curated peer-reviewed studies.
Watson for Oncology draws medical evidence from more than 300 medical journals, 200 textbooks and almost 15 million pages of text and can help in developing treatment plans for breast, lung, colorectal, cervical, ovarian, gastric, prostate and bladder cancers.
