The Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix might have been only three days long, but KL rocked to the fast pace of its fringe events for the whole month of March. Starting things off was the 1Malaysia GP Sale, which dished out the best bargains at the city’s best shopping malls.

Then it was on to a whole world of music, with international A-list DJs laying down the beats at the Future Music Festival. Headlined by the Chemical Brothers, the 12-hour dance music festival at the Sepang International Circuit proved a huge success with over 15,000 revelers in attendance.

Also rocking the city during the race weekend was Twin Towers @live, where the nine-piece K-pop group Girls’ Generation and Nicole Scherzinger played out to hoards of screaming fans on the Friday and Grammy nominated RnB star Kelis on the Saturday.

Also hair-raising was L’aperitif Fashion by Kronenbourg 1664, whose Rapunzel in Paris of the East made fantasies through hair into a reality at the majestic Thean Hou temple banquet hall that was transformed into a fashionable runway.

The weird and wonderful shared space and wowed the crowd at Carslberg’s STYLO event called Harry Potter’s Circus of Couture. Designer Key Ng posing with his off-beat creations.

Then it was on to the fantastical! Wizards and witches gathered at the Carlsberg Brewery to enter Harry Potter’s Circus of Couture, which featured “freaks” and zombielike models showing off the bizarre creations of designer Key Ng.

For a bit glamour, there was The Madhatters Ball presented by Lumix, featuring some winners of the Mercedes- Benz STYLO Designers Competition, while rounding things off was the extravagant Petronas F1 Team bash at KL’s hottest new venue, The Pool on Jalan Ampang.

F1 fans also hit a high all throughout the week, with many meet-the-driver sessions around town and in Sepang. At Suria KLCC, hordes of Mercedes GP supporters turned out to see Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg, which was one of the main events in a week-long exhibition. It was also pitstop madness at Pavilion KL, whose F1 programme included A Glamorous Night of Fashion, great competitions, a happening concert and a chance for fans to meet Caterham drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov.
