Also known as the mid-autumn festival, this 3,000 year old festival is a celebration for Chinese people worldwide and was traditionally a day to mark the end of the harvest. As the day falls on the new moon, the baking of mooncake is a traditional part of the festival and, as you will no doubt have spotted around the city, has today become an almost competitive occupation!
