Rugby fans are in for a real treat as the popular KL Charity Rugby Dinner is back for its eighth successive year. Hosted by the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, the dinner will serve up a five-star night of outstanding entertainment, headed by this all-star speaker line-out: 2007 England Captain Martin Corry; one of the world’s best ever tight-head props, Paul Wallace of South Africa; and the many-capped Australian lock (now commentator and author) Peter FitzSimons.
Imagine the anecdotes and inside info these gentlemen will deliver!
A superb four-course dinner – accompanied by a free flow of wine and beer – is 100% guaranteed, as the venue is one of KL’s premier hotels the Shangri-La, who are supporting partners of the event, together with Guinness and Tiger beer.
Other evening highlights are the Grand Charity Auction and fabulous Prize Raffle – both in aid of Malaysian charities.
Indeed, Charities are the prime reason for these wonderful Rugby Dinners, which over the years from 2005 have raised almost RM1 million for charities such as Agathians Shelter, the Malaysian Dyslexia Association , and Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah to name just a few.
The line-up of prizes for last year’s Charity raffle was nothing short of spectacular, including tickets for the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, limited edition signed rugby memorabilia from the RBS 6 Nations, luxury hotel stays, and perhaps the most coveted of all, a commemorative jersey signed by all-time rugby legends Gavin Hastings, Jonah Lomu, Jonathan Davis and David Campese.
So if last year’s prizes are anything to go by (and be sure they will be) it will be another brilliant Rugby evening.
One of the most significant sporting and networking events in the country, the occasion is designed to raise awareness about the sport of Rugby while contributing to society through the auction initiative.
For the 2012 event, RBS is the Title Sponsor, HSBC the Gold Sponsor and BAE SYSTEMS its Silver Sponsor, and each of these major companies sees this as an important part of their community contribution, helping the underprivileged enhance their skill set and explore their potential.
All in all, the Rugby Charity Dinner offers a perfect opportunity to rub shoulders with some legends of the game, meet potential business contacts through networking, give back to society by taking part in the charity auction, win some fantastic prizes, and most of all to have a great time and catch up with friends. Get your tickets today and enjoy the scrum!
