Dining On Cloud Nine

For a select group of diners, it was certainly a night to remember as they made their way up the hilly terrain of Genting Highlands to experience a different kind of Festival dine-in at The Olive, a trendy restaurant located at Maxims Genting. The Olive was also the winner of this year’s Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2010 The People’s Choice Award for Most Creative Food Presentation.

The night started off early with the guests comfortably seated at the lounge area of The Olive, enjoying canapés and cocktails while catching up with old friends and acquaintances. After the introductions were made, guests were asked to gather at the lobby of the hotel where a bus was waiting to take them to the Arena of Stars to watch veteran singer Lobo in concert. The guests were thrilled as most of them were big fans of the American singer who made it big in the 70s.

Once the concert was over, the guests were taken back to the restaurant, happy and famished. And they weren’t disappointed as Chef Daniel Sheen had indeed prepared a feast for all festival diners. A favourite dish of the night was the Poached Lamb Fillet, Basil Mousse, Fava bean, Watercress and Lie de vin. “The lamb was absolutely delicious. Juicy and tender,” says Tunku Dato’ Seri Shahabuddin Tunku Besar Burhanuddin.

Before the night ended, Dato’ Steve called out for everyone’s attention as he wanted to extend his thanks and gratitude to Chef Daniel for a wonderful meal. His sentiments were shared by Dato’ Farah Khan who complimented Chef Daniel’s creations.
