Carey Island

Address: Pulau Carey, Kuala Langat
Category: Attraction
Pulau Carey, located on Selangor’s coast, a 20 minute drive from the royal town of Klang, is famous to Malaysians for three things – great seafood, the palm oil estates that are dotted all over the island, and the native people, the Mah Meri. The indigenous community have retained their unique culture and way of life and are known for their mask sculptures fashioned as an ancestral tribute. The tribe has kept the legends of their ancestors alive through these figurines and stories and are more than willing to share their traditions with visitors.
