Malaysia Tourism Awards 2010/2011, events around KL

We love tourists, and in recognition of the players who have made the sector a vibrant one, the Ministry of Tourism held the Malaysia Tourism Awards 2010/2011 at the KL Convention Centre that was graced by Malaysia’s new King and Queen. Among the winners was Sunway Pyramid, which received an award for Most Innovative Shopping Mall.

The arts scene was also loud with concerts by first-time-in-Malaysia performers, such as renowned Indonesian soul and funk band Maliq & D’Essentials and Indie faves Foster the People, as well as musicals like Aladdin the Musical that wowed the audience.

Visitors to our shores also had a chance to taste the King of Fruits, with the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority in collaboration with KL Tower and Telekom organising a three-day RM15 all-you-can-eat durian and fruits festival.
Fans of Doraemon, the lovable blue robot cat, enjoyed a showcase of the popular comic at Pavilion KL, which served as a sneak preview of Doraeon World at Genting Highland’s Arena of Stars this month.
