Get a hefty dose of comedy with Super Kam Ultra

When Super Kam burst on to the scene in 2012, Malaysia’s comedy circuit had no idea what hit it. This all-female, stand-up showcase has been causing a ruckus ever since, bringing down the house wherever it goes, and this month will see the long awaited fourth incarnation in the form of Super Kam Ultra.

Headlined by Malaysia’s queen of comedy, Joanne Kam, the show is back after a year and this round features five more of the region’s most fantabulous comics, with one very new addition to the pack.

Kam needs little introduction, and since headlining the infamous and provocative, KL cabaret show Boom Boom Boom almost two decades ago, she has risen through the ranks to become a leading lady in the comedy scene. Her femme fatale persona is intoxicating and she’s unafraid to tackle any issue on stage with unapologetic and in-your-face humour.

Joining her will be princess of comedy and leading actress Shamaine Othman who has been a mainstay on Super Kam shows since the start. Her offbeat comedy troupe Projek Disko Baldi rocks houses on the regular, and her short independent film KL24: Zombies (released just last month) has been making waves.

Then there is the notorious Bibi K Poh, who dances, acts, sings, emcees, produces and does just about anything else connected with showbiz. From the Lion City comes the stinging Singaporean Sharul Channa who has held her own at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and brings a razor sharp wit to the stage. Rounding out the troops is the quirky Hannan Azlan, who made her stand-up debut in 2015 and has already won the 10th Annual Hong Kong Comedy Festival.

Last but not least is the host of the night and Malaysia’s “biggest” comedian, Papi Zak. This veteran has performed alongside the likes of Harith Iskander, Jit Murad and Douglas Lim, and as the sole male in Super Kam Ultra, he’ll be representing the less fair of the species with gut-busting bravado.

Audiences have been promised 90% new material, from the trials of dating and the agony of men to bedroom escapades and beyond. No punches will be pulled in this show. Incoming: Super Kam Ultra.
