Tod’s blossoms with colour and practicality for Spring/Summer
Spring/Summer fashion is here! I was recently invited to a special preview of Tod’s Spring/Summer collection at their boutique in Pavilion KL and the first thing that crossed my mind was whether the brand could really do something different this season, especially with their choice of colours. And interestingly enough, they did!

Tod's Ago is functional and comfortable
Let’s start with the women’s shoe collection. The highlight for this season is the Tod’s Ago sandal. This is actually a remake of a sandal from 2001, with designer Derek Lam deciding to bring this classic piece back, refreshed and sporting a few choice alterations such as the hand-stitched seams and handmade straps.
The bags (oh how I love the bags!), on the other hand, were designed foremost with practicality in mind. The Tod’s woman is a busy lady. She works and is constantly running from meetings to hang out sessions with her friends and partner. To make life easier, she needs something comfortable and versatile to carry all her necessities. In comes the Tod’s Shopper bag, which is made out of the softest, most natural calfskin. The fringe adorning the front looks lovely swinging about when you walk.

And finally, who can forget Tod’s Iconic collection? This season, Tod’s has an all-new take on the iconic D Bag, the new D Styling, which is a simple evolution of the original. The colours used for this collection range from neutral shades to colours that pop in red, yellow, blue and pink. These bags are also made out of the softest calfskin but come in two different finishes; shiny and matte leather. The shiny leather looks amazing while the matte finish looks super soft and natural. Also, as a tribute to Tod’s famous Gommino loafer, the D Styling bags carry the Gommino designs all over the bag! Tod’s famous Gommino loafer and Ballerina have also been brought back with a whole new look in a series of bright colours and design in soft natural leathers.

Tod's Loafer's in ankle boot design comes in patent, suede and soft calfskin
As it’s still early on in the season, the men’s collections are not fully stocked yet, but I did manage to catch a glimpse of a few key pieces. Like the women’s collection, the men’s collection is also fully focused on functionality but still doesn’t lose its elegance. The iconic Tod’s Loafer is made to fit your feet comfortably and is flexible enough to suit someone with a busy and active lifestyle. The formal style comes in lace-ups and moccasins with lightweight leather or rubber soles. They also come in ankle boots made of patent leather, suede or calfskin.

Tod's bags for men are big and functional for work, travelling and normal day to day use
The bags are big and practical and made out of calf or snakeskin. The collection features two big travelling bags, perfect when you need to travel for business in style. The big practical shoulder bag is perfect for office or day-to-day use. The colours for the men’s collection are not as bright as the women’s one, ranging from classic chocolate to black, bottle green, cherry and caramel.

The collection is very refreshing and will definitely cater to a younger crowd as well as loyal fans. Pop into any Tod’s boutique to catch a glimpse of the new arrivals or log on to their website at tods.com to take a virtual tour of their Spring Summer 2012 collection.
