Pavilion Kuala Lumpur ushers in the year of the dragon with a 600-foot model of the mythical beast

Celebrations are well underway with the drumming of Chinese New Year heard all over the city. And at the centre of the celebrations is Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with its Majestic Dragon Festival that will be running until the end of the Chinese New Year period. Be a part of the festivities with KL’s premiere lifestyle destination.
The Centre Court of Pavilion has been transformed into a bazaar with traditional arts and crafts offerings dubbed the Dragon Festival. All located under the piece de resistance of the festival, a 600-foot dragon that is sure to take your breath away.

Ms Yap along with other representatives of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur get cosy with one of the dragons
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur CEO of Retail Joyce Yap kicked off the festival by awaking a blindfolded “dragon”. As she removed the blindfold, the “dragon” was unleashed and was joined by another dragon. The Centre Court then became the grounds for an amazing performance of eight lions and a double dragon dance. The launch was made complete with the lou sang ceremony of tossing salmon and vegetables, and an outdoor acrobatic lion dance that had everyone in awe as the lion did amazing jumps and flips.
Don’t worry if you missed the grand launch, because until 6 February, Pavilion has got tonnes in store. The premiere lifestyle mall will be having Chinese drum performances by Tang Ren Gu, lion and dragon dance performances by Kiew Brothers every weekend and the highlight event of one-of-a-kind LED dragon and lion dance performances among others.
The bazaar will include dragon-theme offerings ranging from dragon beard candy, rainbow calligraphy, silk embroidery, snuff bottle painting, paper cutting and more. You will also be able to redeem a free photo portrait of yourself in traditional Chinese costumes when you spend RM100 at the Dragon Festival or RM200 at any specialty stores.
You stand a chance to win a limited edition Poh Kong Dragon Abacus gold pendant whenever you spend RM200 or more on a single receipt at any specialty store with your chances being doubled if it's a Poh Kong receipt. The receipt of RM200 also means you get to collect special ang pow packets for Chinese New Year and with a receipt of over RM500, you will receive a Kiew Brothers Chinese New Year hamper.
And in the Chinese New Year spirit of prosperity and sharing good fortune, tourists will be able to enjoy a 20% discount and free dragon beard candy once they have collected their complimentary Tourist Reward Card at the Concierge Desk at Level 3.
Kick start that festive Chinese New Year mood by enveloping yourself in Chinese culture and traditions. So be sure to bring the family and check out these events at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for a roaring good time as we usher in the year of the dragon.
